Welcome to Life Venues

Feel at home in our spaces. Whether you're running a community group, holding a meeting, or launching a social enterprise, our locations near Newcastle and Gateshead city centres are here for you.

Life Venues is managed by Life Vineyard Church (LVC). The church was started back in 2006 with just a handful of people. The church has now grown to nearly 400 people who meet at various locations both on Sundays and throughout the week. LVC has a passion for community! We love to support those around us in all sorts of ways and hope that, through the buildings we manage, we can help our communities to thrive.

Marley Hill Community Centre was an old miner’s welfare hall, opened in 1936, by the Duke and Duchess of York. In late 2016, LVC began discussions with Gateshead Council about becoming the managers of the centre and in September 2017, we took this on. The building spaces are used by a wide range of local community groups and social action enterprises close to around the Marley Hill, Sunniside and Wickham area.

The Allen was built as a Methodist church in 1904 and was known as The Allen memorial Methodist church. In 2016, it closed for three years until LVC bought the building in June 2019. Following refurbishment of the auditorium, it was re-opened as The Allen in September 2019. Since opening further refurbishment to the hall spaces to upgrade and modernise the building has taken place. It is now fully equipped and provides the local community with a variety activities and events.

Both spaces have seen dance clubs, toddler groups, exercise groups, musical instrument bands, choirs, martial arts clubs, various after schools clubs and pop up cafes, as well as parties use their facilities.
